Super Smash Bros. (Nintendo 64)


Format
Double Elimination. Pool play may precede bracket play if the number of participants is suitably large.

Gameplay Rules

Dream Land only.

Sets between players are played best 2 out of 3 matches.

3 out of 5 matches apply for Winner’s Finals, Loser’s Finals, and Grand Finals

The banning of cargo stalling is up to the tournament organizer’s discretion.

Each match is played with stock and 5 lives.

Items are turned off.

For the first match, characters are chosen double-blind – at the same time, so that neither player knows his opponent’s character beforehand.

The loser of the first match (and of successive matches) chooses his/her next character, and then the winner chooses his/her character.

Controllers

We have a limited number of N64 controllers available, so you are strongly encouraged to bring your own. Standard N64 controllers, HORI Mini Pad, N64 Arcade Shark Joystick, Gamecube controller (with N64 adapter), and keyboard (with N64 adapter) are permitted. Any other types of controllers not mentioned may be used, but must first be approved by TO’s.

Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow (GameBoy)


Format

Single Elimination. Pool play may precede bracket play if the number of participants is suitably large.

Gameplay Rules

Super Nintendo’s and Super GameBoy 2’s will be used with Super Nintendo controllers that the RWS provides.

Each participant must bring their own Red, Blue, or Yellow GameBoy cartridge and will choose a single team of 6 Pokémon. This will be the team they use throughout the duration of the tournament. The team will be inspected by a RWS staffer to verify that each Pokémon on the team does not break any level, move set, or species restrictions. If the participant uses any other Pokémon besides that on their registered team, or if any of their Pokémon has changed in level, move set or stats, between tournament registration and the ending of the tournament, they will be disqualified immediately without question.

For each round in the tournament, the participants will choose 3 Pokémon from their original team of 6 to use in the round, and these will be the Pokémon they can use in that round. The deadline for signing up for this tournament will be 90 minutes before the start time due to staff needing to verify the participant’s teams to meeting the requirements.

Level Cap

The level cap for this tournament is Level 80.

Banned Pokémon

Mew, Mewtwo, and Glitch Pokémon, such as Missingno are banned.

Banned Moves

The following Moves are banned. Any Pokémon with one of these moves in its move set is not eligible for participation.

  • Wrap
  • Fire Spin
  • Fissure
  • Guillotine
  • Horn Drill
  • Double Team
  • Minimize

Other Clauses

  • Species clause: Each Pokémon on a player’s team must be of different species or National Pokédex number.
  • Sleep clause: Each player can only have one Pokémon asleep at a time (Pokémon that are put to sleep due to Rest do not count).
  • Freeze clause: Each player can only have one Pokémon frozen at a time.
  • Self-KO clause: The player automatically loses if his last Pokémon uses Selfdestruct or Explosion.

Street Fighter Alpha 2 (Playstation 2, Alpha Anthology)

Format
Double Elimination. Pool play may precede bracket play if the number of participants is suitably large.

Gameplay Rules

Versus mode. 99 seconds. Manual mode. Default difficulty, damage, and game speed.

Initial rounds will be 2 out of 3 rounds, 2 out of 3 games.

3 out of 5 games apply for Winner’s Finals, Loser’s Finals, and Grand Finals.

Choosing Sides

  • When both players are at the game console, they must come to an agreement which side of they machine they will play on (who will sit on 1p and who will sit on 2p)
  • If an agreement cannot be reached, a coin flip will determine who gets to pick their side.

Side and Character Courtesy

  • As a courtesy, the player who received his choice of which side to play on (1p vs 2p) can elect to choose his character first.
  • This is strictly a courtesy. A player is in no way required to do so.
  • Winner must keep same character.

Controllers

We have a limited number of PS2 controllers available, so you are strongly encouraged to bring your own. Standard PS1/PS2 controllers, PS1 Asciiware, PS1 Namco,
PS2 Street Fighter Anniversary Edition, Ps2 Hori, and PS2 Mayflash are permitted. Any other types of controllers not mentioned may be used, but must first be approved by TO’s.

Mario Kart 64 (Nintendo 64)


Format
Double Elimination. Pool play may precede bracket play if the number of participants is suitably large.

Gameplay Rules

2 player. Grand Prix Mode. 150cc.

The first player to win 3 races wins.

Players will flip coin to determine Cup and character selection. Coin flip winner gets first choice of character or choice of Cup (e.g. if coin flip winner chooses character first, coin flip loser gets to choose Cup).

If there is a 2-2 tie, the tie breaking race will be the first course of the Cup being played.
